Parsons Pond Outfitters is a small family run
operation in north west Newfoundland. We pride ourselves in the fact
that we are the owners, guides and cooks to provide the best
possible personalized service to our guest. All of our hunting is
done by foot with one guide for each hunter. Walking at times can be
rough so try to be in good shape. It is because of these methods
that we can provide quality personalized trophy hunts with excellent
success rates. We operate six different camps. Five of these are
accessible only by plane or helicopter, the other can be reached by
foot or J5 tractor.
Hunter
accommodations consist of a comfortable outpost cabin equipped with
a wood stove and gas or electric lights. We like to limit the number
of hunters in camp to four hunters per hunting period. In addition
to our main camps, we sometimes utilize various remote and rustic
"spike camps" depending upon game movements and weather conditions.
Since most moose hunting is done in remote valleys, accessible only
by foot, these "spike camps" can greatly reduce the amount of
walking while keeping the hunter in some of the best moose hunting
areas of Newfoundland. All of our camps are equipped with radios and
radio telephones in case of any emergencies. Our camps are checked
regularly by our fly-in service during the course of each hunt,
however we cannot control the weather and delays in and out of camp
are sometimes possible.
Weather
conditions in our area during the moose hunting season (mid
September thru mid October) can vary greatly. Mid-day temperatures
may exceed 40 degrees with well below freezing temperatures at
night, so come prepared. Rain gear and rubber boots are a must.
